Carlisle Jazz Club Announces April Enrollments

Next month, the Carlisle Jazz Club will be offering a range of events and acts for you to enjoy.

The Jazz Club is a weekly event featuring live music at Carlisle Rugby Club on Warwick Road.

To begin proceedings on April 7, the Esk Valley Jazzmen will perform. A club spokesman said: “This ever-popular local band is guaranteed to make you leave the club happier than when you came in. Please come out and support this talented group.”

On April 14, the club will present The Tom Harris Trio, one of two jazz trios that are new to the club. Their performance is said to be a “musical journey of discovery”.

On April 21, the Jazz Club welcomes back Roz Sluman’s Big Shoes Band after a “stunning” night last December that gave drummer Kenny Reed a great start. “We look forward to another evening of boppy instrumentals, catchy vocal classics and a presentation of the new drummer.”

To close the month, the Dean Stockdale trio will perform on April 28. The spokesperson added, “Dean is a highly regarded jazz pianist, arranger and composer known for his sensitive swing style. His biggest influences in jazz are the piano styles of Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Gene Harris, Mulgrew Miller and Errol Garner. An evening not to be missed.”
