JIM CARUSO’S CAST PARTY returns to Birdland Jazz Club from July



The Birdland Jazz Club has announced that Jim Caruso’s Cast Party – the weekly celebration of talent that has taken place every Monday for the past seventeen years – will reopen on Monday, July 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Host Caruso will be moving his popular virtual variety show “Pajama Cast Party” to Wednesday at 8:00 pm starting July 7th.

“Jim Caruso’s Cast Party” is a hugely popular weekly open mic party that has brought a dash of Broadway glitz and urban flair to the legendary Birdland in New York City every Monday night since 2004. It’s a cool mic night since 2004. open and a hilarious and impromptu variety show. in which showbiz superstars take the stage alongside the next generation, serving up breathtaking music and general dazzling. “Cast Party” is the perfect place to mingle with talented artists and their fans. The dynamic, lively and charming Caruso guides the whole affair, while musical genius Billy Stritch (Liza Minnelli, Tony Bennett) holds his court in ivories and conducts the Cast Party Symphony Orchestra (Steve Doyle on bass and Daniel Glass on drums). The best part is that the public is invited to participate in the musical festivities.

Jim Caruso did not let the pandemic shutdown of Birdland last year put an end to his event on Monday. Instead, with the technical expertise of producer Ruby Locknar, it went virtual, bringing the popular musical variety show to the homes of viewers around the world via the YouTube Cast Party Network. With Birdland returning to in-person events, the virtual party will move to Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. EST. Jim Caruso made his Broadway debut alongside Liza Minnelli in Tony Award winning Liza’s At The Palace !, singing, dancing and celebrating the music and arrangements of Kay Thompson and the Williams Brothers. He won six MAC Awards and eight BroadwayWorld Awards for his nightclub work, performed with the New York Pops in homage to Kander & Ebb, with Rosemary Clooney celebrating Bing Crosby, and sang the songs of Hope & Crosby with Michael Feinstein at Carnegie Hall. Jim had the honor of singing with Barbara Cook, Lauren Bacall and a host of Broadway stars at President Clinton’s First State Dinner at the White House.
