John Lloyd Young returns to Catalina Jazz Club next month
Tony and Grammy Award winner John Lloyd Young is set to return to the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood with his new show Mostly Soul for just two nights on Friday January 7 and Saturday January 8, 2022 at 8:30 p.m., he has was announced today by Chris Isaacson Presents and Catalina.
John Lloyd Young, 2006 Tony Award winner for Best Actor in a Musical for Jersey Boys, along with musical director Tommy Faragher (Glee), will perform beloved hits from the Motown catalog as well as audience favorites of his career. Young delivers songs with an immediacy and originality that make even longtime hits feel like they are playing in front of you for the very first time.
Young is the originator of Frankie Valli’s role in Jersey Boys, Broadway’s Best International Tony Award-winning musical and international hit, garnering enthusiastic praise from New York and national media. He won lead actor Tony, the Drama Desk, the Outer Critics Circle, and the Theater World Awards, becoming the only American actor in history to win all four for his Broadway debut. He sings the lead vocals on the original Grammy-winning Jersey Boys Platinum cast album. He made his West End debut playing Valli at the Piccadilly Theater in London and recreated the on-screen role in the film adaptation of Warner Brothers directed by Clint Eastwood. He played Marius in Les Misérables at the Hollywood Bowl. He has performed at Café Carlyle in New York, Carnegie Hall, White House, Lincoln Center, Radio City Music Hall, Feinstein’s at Nikko in San Francisco, Yankee Stadium, Dodger Stadium, McCarter Theater Center, at New York City Hall and with the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Marvin Hamlisch.
