The Chichester Jazz Club hosts the Philip Clouts Quartet
Philip Clouts – piano is joined by Sam Eagles – saxophones, Tim Fairhall – bass and Ted Carrasco – drums, offering melodic jazz to inspirations from all over the world.
Spokeswoman Melissa Hauffe said: “The South African roots of the Cape-born pianist / composer Philip Clouts inspired a journey of discovery that led him to soak up the joyful passion of the Caribbean calypso, the melodies blues songs of praise from the Middle East, the exuberant influence of Cuban rhythms of guaguanco and the melodious essence of gospel while honoring jazz heroes such as Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett and Charles Lloyd.
“Since moving to Dorset in 2006, he has responded to his new surroundings with impressionistic compositions that complement his interests in world music, resonating with strong themes and packing a powerful rhythmic punch. He is joined by rising star saxophonist Samuel Eagles, bassist Tim Fairhall and drummer Ted Carrasco, bringing his musical journey to life with superb musicality and infectious vigor.
Entry £ 15 for guests, £ 8 for members, students have a special entry price of £ 5 but reduced to £ 3 for student members.
