The Gabriel Latchin Trio returns to the Steyning Jazz Club
Spokesman Colin Jilks said: âBritish pianist Gabriel Latchin, composer and conductor, has carved out a unique place for himself as one of the UK’s finest musicians, internationally acclaimed by critics and world famous musicians.
Known for his effortless drive, deep repertoire, and compelling performances, Jazzwise recently described his playing as impeccable, with the clarity of his lines reminiscent of something Hank Jones or Tommy Flanagan. It has been hugely praised in The Guardian and The Times and has been featured in DownBeat (USA) and Jazz Japan. A regular performer in London’s biggest jazz venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Jazz Club and 606, Latchin can often be heard with his contemporaries Sara Dowling, Atila, Nat Steele’s Portrait of the MJQ and The Steve Fishwick Quartet. He has also performed with Salena Jones, Roy Hargrove, Jason Marsalis, Ronnie Cuber and Grant Stewart.
â2020 saw the release of I’ll Be Home for Christmas, his third album as a leader. The song collection includes new arrangements of beloved classics including White Christmas, Silent Night, and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. With Dario Di Lecce, one of London’s most in-demand bassists, and Josh Morrison, a drummer who has performed with many of the UK’s top jazz musicians, we are planning a remarkable evening.
The Steyning Jazz Club meets at Fletcher’s Croft, Steyning BN44 3XZ, 8 p.m. (doors 7:15 p.m.). âThe restrictions on the number of hearings have been removed, so it is no longer necessary to reserve seats. However, please bring your own refreshments as the bar arrangements are not yet finalized.
