PizzaExpress Live shares a few upcoming dates with us, including a birthday well worth celebrating… that of a cornerstone of the UK jazz scene for decades, and one of the most supportive and supportive people of all time: it will be the bass player David Green‘s 80th on March 5:

PRESS RELEASE – Dave Green turns 80and anniversary at the Soho Jazz Club, among other jazz greats in the coming months…
British jazz legend Dave Green has worked with everyone from Charlie Watts to Sonny Rollins and Coleman Hawkins. Join him at his birthday weekend in Soho in a celebration of his career that brings together a mix of jazz stars and demonstrates why he remains one of the UK’s most in-demand bass players.
Special guests include the Scott Hamilton Quartetthe Karen Sharp Quartetprolific saxophonist Alan Barnesfamous avant-garde saxophonist Evan Parker (there is an upcoming album), internationally renowned trombonist Marc Rossignol, Norma Winstone with the Nikki Iles Quartet and The Calm Waters of Henry Lowther.
master saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi, recognized for his innovation and integrity, joins us in February with his Quartet composed of Jason Rebello, Mark Hodgson and Stephen Keogh.
In line with saxophonists, Rudresh Mahanthappa‘Hero Trio’ pays homage to Mahanthappa’s greatest influences with an album about interpretations.
Also lined up (not yet for sale), is American jazz saxophonist Rick Margitzawho will join us on stage in May.

PizzaExpress Live presents over 1,300 shows each year at multiple venues including the historic PizzaExpress Jazz Club in Soho, The Pheasantry in Chelsea, PizzaExpress Live Holborn and PizzaExpress Live Birmingham.
Live music has always been an important part of PizzaExpress. Founder Peter Boizot was a jazz lover and was constantly looking for ways to incorporate music into his restaurants, whether at the PizzaExpress branches of the late 1960s, at his other businesses like Pizza on the Park, or at Kettner’s in from the 1970s. The flagship venue at 10 Dean Street, London, has hosted internationally acclaimed music since its first ticketed shows in May 1976. All of our venues have hosted legendary names such as Amy Winehouse, Brian May, Gregory Porter, Van Morrison, Tony Bennett, Chrissie Hynde, Norah Jones and many more…
