Spokeswoman Annette Keen said: ‘The background comes from saxophonist and flautist Andy Panayi, whose illustrious career includes many years of working with John Dankworth and Cleo Laine, through West End musicals, guest appearances in clubs and jazz festivals around the world, hundreds of recording sessions and numerous tours in the UK and abroad.

“Andy has received the Marty Paich Arranging Award, the John Dankworth Soloist Award, the Worshipful Company of Musicians Jazz Medal and the British Jazz Awards for his jazz flute performances. He is currently a professor at the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Birmingham Conservatory.

“The youth of the group is represented by five rising stars of the British jazz scene. “James Davison (trumpet) was the Musician’s Company’s choice for the 2018 Young Jazz Musician Medal.

“Three other exceptionally talented young musicians play alongside him: Will Barry (keyboards), Oz Dechaine (bass) and Alex Pitt (drums).”

Helena Kay is also on stage.

“The Boptet program includes music by Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Thelonius Monk and Horace Silver.

The venue is Fishermen’s Club, Royal Parade, BN22 7AA.

Annette added: “Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and the music starts at 8 p.m. and ends around 10:30 p.m.
